In 1925, Dr Olver bequeathed his home, "Ventogymps", situated on
the corner of Victoria Avenue and Hercules Street for use as a
Community Hospital. Kuring-gai Community Service Hospital opened
in 1927.
In 1956, the Hospital became a public hospital, Chatswood District
Community Hospital and continued serving the community until 1989. |

When Chatswood District Community Hospital closed in June 1989 due to
the rationalisation of health services, the Board decided that they
still wished to provide a community service to the people of
Willoughby / Chatswood.
Chatswood Community Nursing Home was opened in November 1992. It
occupies the site of the former Chatswood District Community
Hospital. The restored two-storey "Olver" House and adjacent
Federation cottage have been incorporated in the new building.
The Home is set out on two levels with lift access and accommodates 52
Residents.
