The James Milson Village, located at the corner of High St and Clark Rd North Sydney, is a community project providing accommodation for 240 aged residents over five levels of care. The Village is conducted by the North Sydney Retirement Trust, a charity incorporated under the Corporations Law. The Village, which opened in 1974 contains 58 Hostel units (low care) 19 of which are for people with dementia in a Special Needs Wing. Additionally the village includes a 57 bed nursing home (high care) within which there is a dementia facility for 16 residents.

Subject to availability of accommodation, it is anticipated that residents will be able to move, as and when their health dictates, to and from the different levels of care within the Village.

The nursing home is a joint venture between the Trust and the Uniting Church.

The Village also contains 104 self care units, 56 two bedroom and 48 one bedroom. All accommodation in the Village is either recently built or totally renovated.

An experienced and competent team, directed and supported by a dedicated Board, professionally manages James Milson Village and is tasked with the responsibility of ensuring:

  • respect for each person regardless of religious convictions or nationality; and

  • that the facility is maintained to a high standard and operates efficiently and ethically; and

  • that the amenity is maintained in compliance with highest community standards and relevant government regulations

All staff of the Village work together to meet the aim of our Mission Statement, which is:

“To continue our caring ministry for the ageing by providing with commitment and respect, care and support for each resident as an individual”

While social interaction is encouraged each individual self care apartment is designed to provide maximum independence and privacy so that each resident may participate in Village community activities or not as they choose.

Facilities include diversional therapy, hairdressing salon, visiting library, chapel, outings in Village bus, barbeque/picnic areas, visiting religious services.

The Village is served by excellent transport and is close to Milsons Point railway station.

The Facilities include full meals, including morning and afternoon teas.

The logo for the Village encapsulates many of its characteristics thus: The five waves symbolize both the five levels of care and the close proximity to the water (many of the units have splendid harbour views); the leaf and the green colour symbolize the life and growth of the Village and its residents; The cross symbolizes the presence of a caring christian attitude of care in the Village; and the circle symbolizes the unity of the facilities within the Village.
