PURPOSE
This course provides entry level training for employment in community based services. The focus is on providing direct care and support for people with disabilities and older people within their own homes.
Subjects Covered
Core:
- Work effectively with older people;
- Provide support to people living with dementia;
- Work effectively in the community sector;
- Work effectively with people with a disability;
- Work effectively in a home and community care environment;
- Provide support to meet personal care needs;
- Participate in the implementation of individualised plans;
- Work effectively with carers;
- Follow safety procedures for direct care work;
- Work effectively with culturally diverse client and co-workers
Elective
- Communicate appropriately with clients and colleague,
- Support older people to maintain their independence,
- Assist clients with medication,
- Undertake home visits.

This course is designed for people wishing to work in the Aged Care Industry in the community sector. This course provides entry level training for employment in community based services.
